For years I’ve wanted to make a planter out of an old tire….
So I gathered my helper Zac…
Just a warning to all you grown children. If you plan on moving back into your parents basement when times get tough, don’t think it will be an easy ride. We will put you to work!
I drew scallops on the tires with chalk and we (Zac) cut them out.
Then I took them down to the local tire store and had them remove the unwanted piece. Next I got the neighbor boy who is strong beyond belief to turn them inside out. (Sorry I forgot to take pictures of this process because it was really funny and I was too busy standing on the rim and being jostled around and laughing to be able to take pictures anyway).
Once they are inside out, I started painting…
I used spray paint on the rims and exterior paint I had laying around for the tire…
I painted the “petals” with the opposite colors of each other’s base…
When they were dry, I moved them out front and filled them with dirt…
And plants….
I think they turned out pretty good.

OH.....MY.....WORD!!! I think my heart even skipped a few beats. These are So, So, Cute!!! It's a good thing they are super heavy or I would be tempted to sneak over there in the middle of the night...(oh wait, I live in another State) : ) Kudos to you on an amazing job (and the boy next door, and Son, and Tire Shop).
I read every single word of your two "Gwams Duty" Posts. You're the best, Janis. Congratulations on a new little Sweetpea added to your family.

This is so cool. I'm going to try it. I have 1 tire that my son used for school project. Since he never has gotten rid of it...he's now going to help me make this. Lol
