OLD WINDOWING AGAIN

Remember this window? Of course you do! I know that my followers (all two of you) have been waiting so patiently ever since I posted this picture in a previous post.


Well here is what I did with it.






I hung it up above my island.

I put the word "KITCHEN" in the top pane.

Caleb says it's a good thing to label my rooms so he knows where they were when he comes over. (I have a penchant for knocking down walls and moving things around.)

His friend Casey came over the other day and when he walked in he said, "I love this place. It reminds me of Willy Wonka's. Everything is always changing and it has so much going on."

I glued some clothes pins on the frame and clipped up some old valentine post cards I had

I also hung a pretty red berry wreath on it. (Note the dinosaur.I think it really helps to "finish" the whole look.)

LETTERS

Okay, I am seriously addicted to making these letters.

Since Valentines day is coming up I thought i would make these.

Then I found this idea of using pictures and putting
them on the letters of your name.

I chose to use old pictures.

Look how young and skinny I was.

I'm not too sure if I am really pleased with them.

I HAD A PARTY

Well not really. It was the "empty Nesters" Family Home Evening. In the LDS church we dedicate Monday nights to spend with our families and have lessons and activities. In the area that I live in, there are several couples that don't have children in the home anymore so we meet together once a month to have our own Family Home Evening.
Last night was my turn. I did a lesson about finding Joy in the Journey and then we ate a socialized.

As part of my lesson I read a story about hot chocolate so I thought it would be fun to have it.

I made all sorts of breads and cheese spreads.

I served the different kinds of jam that I made last summer.





Now my house is clean. Hummmmm, I better find a project.

I LOVE MY GRANDKIDS!!!

Just in case you were wondering.

I had one of those walk by and laugh hilariously moments this morning. I was down in the family room looking for something and look what I happened upon.

Yes, a Styrofoam apple that someone tried to take a bite out of.

This will be my newest trophy that goes on the mantle.






I still have to giggle when I see it.

SO MANY IDEAS, SO MUCH "STUFF"

As I was cleaning up the Christmas decorations and putting it all away, people kept coming in and saying how bare everything looked. It always makes me so sad to take it all down.

I still haven't gotten the old stuff back out yet and I'm not too sure if I will. I'm kind of tired of it and I've had so many ideas floating around in my head lately. I'm always gathering "stuff" for projects I might make some day, and I've decided that this year I want to do something with the "stuff" or else get rid of it. Well, since I am not able to ever throw "stuff "away, I guess I will have to make things. So this is my first project of the year.

We had our family pictures taken back in November and I still hadn't done anything with them so......

Here's what I did

I made some frames for the pictures and this "family" sign. Bekah bought a sign like this at a boutique but her's says "home" and I just love it so of course I had to copy it.

So this is my version. I printed out the letters and decoupaged them to some wood and then cut them out and glued them to my frame.
( I had to include this pictures because I love the giraffe head guys on the TV)

Now what should I do with this?

I'm not the best photographer in the world. The color was very vivid for about 10 minutes. It was really cool!





I guess I'll go "batten down the hatches."

FOLDING WOODEN PICTURE CUBE

I made one of these for each of my kids with their own families on them for Christmas but this one I made to send to my husband.

The first ones didn't turn out very well but now I have the hang of it, they are really fun to make. I got the instructions here but as usual, I made a few modifications.

Instead of one photo, I used individual small photos of each Grandkids.

They open up to reveal all sorts of different configurations

I used the family pictures that we recently had taken for the larger spreads.

We are so blessed to have such a beautiful family.

Just look at them all.

PANCAKES AND GRANDKIDS

What do you do when the grandkids are hungry for lunch and you have no bread?

You make teddy bear pancakes!

I MADE MY KIDS A PRESENT

I got a router for Christmas! (The wood kind not the computer kind.) I know I'm weird but I've been wanting a router for years and I wanted it before Christmas so I could use it to make presents with. I really didn't go all out but it put a really nice edge on these calendar boards I made.

For each family I went to Wordle.net and entered their names and words that I thought represented them and some good descriptive words of attributes that they can work on.

I printed it out on brown packaging paper which I scrunched up and then ironed flat so it would go through my printer and it also gave it a nice antiqued look.

I then Mod-Podged the Wordle onto a piece of sheet metal and glued it to the board.

I've had these vinyl "Family" words for a long time so I stuck them beside the name plate.

I made magnets out of bottle caps with pictures of the kids.

Our Josh doesn't have his own family but he has wonderful memories of his "digs" in Peru. I cut up the vinyl letters I had and created the word "Peru" from them. I printed pictures of him and some of the skulls he unearthed and a few other photos to put on his metal plate. His magnets have skulls on them.

I printed out family calendars with all our birthdays and special occasions and hung them below the plates.

Then I printed out some "Coupons" good for things like sleep-overs or babysitting or treats and stuck them to their plates with the magnets.

I thought they turned out pretty good and they seemed to really like them

IT SNOWED!

Last night during our Christmas party it dumped about 6 inches. Soooo beautiful. I am such a snow person. I thought I would share some pictures. My poor husband over in Iraq is a snow person too but unfortunately all he sees is sand. So these are for him.
