OVERDOING IT AGAIN

In the LDS Church (Mormon) we have the Young Women Program  for girls ages 12 to 18.  My daughter Bekah is in charge of the youngest girls called the “Beehives”.
She has a new girl coming in this month so she asked me to make something special for her to put her books and papers in. She was thinking just a simple bag, I was thinking…..

A cover for her binder…
DSCF2912
A cover for her scriptures….
DSCF2913
And a bag to hold them in….
DSCF2907
You know….
“IT’S NOT DONE TIL IT’S OVERDONE”
There are pockets on the inside to hold her little booklets she will get….
DSCF2910
And of course, flowers….
DSCF2914
All young women like flowers….
DSCF2917       I think she will like it.

I GUESS I NEEDED ANOTHER HOLE IN MY HEAD.

Because I really “NEEDED” these….

My daughter Bekah and I went to our local thrift store looking for totally un-dish related items.

I saw these off in the distance and it was a good thing there was no one in my way or they would have been totally mowed over. (I’m not kidding)

Look at them!

DSCF2841

Now you can’t tell me I didn’t “NEED” them.

DSCF2834

I mean, come on, RED POLKA DOTS…

DSCF2842

Could I leave them there, alone and orphaned in the thrift store?

DSCF2838

I think not!

DSCF2836

And best of all, my daughter wanted to buy them for me as a gift!

DSCF2839

Poor orphans, sooo sad, especially this one. It is missing it’s stems…

DSCF2837

No one could love them more than I would. It was meant to be!  True love.

There were 8 dinner plates, 4 salad plates and only 2 bowls. I have searched high and low all over the internet so see if I could find more but alas I can find none.

Now, where to put them?

And NOTAGOODday HERE
Anyway, I thought I would share my red pots.

I love them!

Not only are they pretty but the work really well too.
Oh and here's another little dress I made for a Haitian baby, it has red too.

WE HAVE A WINNER

When you have 14 grand kids and 6 of them are boys there are bound to be a few accidents now and then.

This is a case of coffee table meets boy…

image

Such a sad little guy but so brave.

But… he’s the winner with the most stitches so far, nine in all,

This one only had five…

DRESSES FOR HAITI

I have two friends named Sue. I call them "My Sues". One is Mimi Sue - she has a blog, the other doesn't (slacker!)

Anyway my Sues and I like to go places together and one day we went to Quilter's Haven in Bountiful. They had a little basket with some fabric rolled up with a pattern for a pillowcase dress that you could take and make and bring back and they would send the dresses to Haiti.

Well we were game.

This was my kit...

See the cute little cherries on the fabric?

And this is what I made with it...

Of course I had to add a little something to it. The Haitians love bright colors.

And I had to add a little flower...

I tried it on Dolly...

It was a little big.

So I tried it on Dirty Faced Teddy...

Perfect! It should fit one of those chubby little Haitian babies just fine. I'm going to go make them some more.

Maybe I should make one for my chubby little 1/2 Haitian grand baby.

CHIP AND DIP

I found this sweet little lady at our local thrift shop yesterday.
DSCF2808
Isn’t she cute? I shall call her Henrietta.
DSCF2809
But alas she had a little CHIP on her head.
DSCF2811
Sooo, being the lazy crafter I am, instead of going downstairs to look for some red craft paint, I grabbed some of this because it was just sitting there on the counter…
DSCF2619
I sprayed a little into the lid and used the paint brush mother nature gave me to DIP in the paint and touch up poor Henny’s head.
DSCF2824
(Don’t worry it will come off in the hot tub.)
All better
DSCF2814
Now my Henrietta is as good as new.
DSCF2813
She shall have a special place on my table for a while.
DSCF2817
Ohhh, bad Henny… look what you did to my table.
Oh well, another project for another day.
DSCF2822
I also got this. I’ve been wanting one for a long time.
Same problem, same solution…

All better

RED! WHO ME?

In case you were wondering, I LOVE RED!  And today is Wednesday or REDNESDAY.
 A 24
Sue over at  It's a Very Cherry World hosts  this event every Wednesday and I have decided to join her.
First, I found this cute little red picture from a friend on Facebook…

Isn’t she cute. I was born in Canada and was raised in Vancouver so I have had so much fun watching the Olympics this year and yes, it’s makes me very homesick. Utah has it’s beauties but it is nothing like British Columbia.
Anyway, for Rednesday I decided to share…
MY RED QUILT…
DSCF2790
I made this quilt several years ago. I am fortunate enough to have an embroidery machine and I found these cute little redwork patterns somewhere…
DSCF2800
DSCF2799  DSCF2783 DSCF2784 DSCF2786 DSCF2795 DSCF2796 DSCF2798
I made blocks with them and I put a smaller version of them all around the border.
DSCF2781
The cute gal on the bicycle is called, “petal pusher” and I loved her so much that I had to use her even though she had nothing to do with the “sewing” theme. I put her on each corner
DSCF2780
I made some pinwheel blocks to alternate with the redwork blocks and did a little patchwork…
DSCF2779
Then I quilted it with my machine, scalloped the edges and trimmed it and there you have it…

My red quilt.
HAPPY REDNESDAY
